Chris Rees

My latest series of work address the questions of how and why we make art, and explore the actual process involved.
My work method is a like a conversation between me and the marks that I make, and ‘happy accidents’ present a challenge that can often move the work into a new direction.

I like to use acrylic paint, stencils and masking fluid, along with ink-jet transfers of digitised images to create layered images. I love colour, rhythm and movement set against grids and squares.

Chris studied Fine Art at Hertfordshire College of Art in St Albans under Graham Boyd in the late seventies.

A career-long passion for creating fine art has co-existed with his self-employment as a Graphic Designer for the last 40 years.
